Job Description

Actalent is currently hiring for a MEP Designer to support a reputable A&E firm in the Columbus Metropolitan area and as the MEP Designer you will focus on commercial building projects. The A&E firm has multiple different business units which include Civil, Transportation, Energy, and Building Systems which includes Architecture & MEP engineering.

As the MEP Designer you will work within the Building Systems group and will report to a Licensed Project Lead Engineer that is responsible for 1 client. You will take direction from the Lead Engineer and will support the Lead Engineer in a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design/engineering capacity. You will also take responsibility for the technical content of building projects and manage all steps of the project process.

You will utilize the AutoCAD and Revit design software to produce construction documents for commercial buildings which will primarily be for retail clients. A majority of the projects will be for repeatable retail clientele and the remaining will be a variety of project types including government, education, healthcare, parks & recreations, etc.

In addition to design, you will be completing preliminary calculations within HVAC, ventilation, electrical, plumbing sanitary and water supply systems.

Cross training within all disciplines of MEP engineering is required and if you are not well-versed within all disciplines, then you will have the ability to learn the areas that you are deficient within.

You also have the opportunity to work a Hybrid work schedule. The hybrid schedule would require you to work in the office Monday and Wednesday, & you would have the option to work from home on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays.

For this position, you will be an Actalent consultant supporting the A&E firm and after supporting the firm for 9 months, you will have the opportunity to transition from Actalent to the A&E firm as their employee. Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineer OR equivalent experience

3 years of on the job experience as a Mechanical Engineer/Designer or Electrical Engineer/Designer for building systems

Experience within AutoCAD & Revit producing construction documents for commercial building projects or retail projects. Experience within healthcare, or govt. related projects are not relative.

Knowledge of engineering calculations

Employee Value Proposition (EVP)

PTO & Sick pay is as follows: If the person works full time 40 hours, they accrue vacation time at 3.08 hrs per pay period or 2 weeks annually. They accrue sick time at 3.69 hrs per pay period or 12 days annually. If the person works 32 hours each week, they accrue sick time at 2.95 hrs per pay period. If they work less than 32 hours, they would not accrue sick time

Holiday Pay Schedule for 2024: Paid holidays include New Year's Day (1/1/24), MLK Jr Day (1/15/24), Memorial Day (5/27/24), Independence Day (7/4/24), Labor Day (9/2/24), Thanksgiving Day (11/28/24), & Christmas Day (12/25/24)

Hybrid schedule (this is a privilege); Monday, and Wednesday are in the office. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are Remote.
