ROLE: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Weekday Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor to support our top-rated newscasts committed to serving the San Diego community. Successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback and models professionalism on and off the air.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Accurate reporting of news stories

+ Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas

+ Develops community contacts and a network of news sources

+ Must be able to ad-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling story with a strong ability to interact with anchors in studio

+ Works with the photographer in the development of a story

+ Regularly updates newsroom on story elements and progress

+ Use social media to update news and weather stories to the public

+ Attend station partnerships in the community

+ Produce and anchor weather, traffic segments for weekend newscasts and fill-in during the week as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

+ Must have undergraduate degree or equivalent related experience

+ Prefer 3-5 years TV news reporting and weather anchor experience in a medium to large market

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Must interact positively and productively with other employees and in the field

+ Strong on-air presentation - must be credible, personable and passionate

+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback

+ In line with reporting duties, individual must be flexible with schedule and be willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts as required by news content

+ Knowledge of WSI, Baron or similar weather forecasting system

+ Comp starting $33/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
