The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Communication Systems and Signal Processing Intern for the Communication Systems Engineering Department (CSED) within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

Job Summary

The Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) represents the disciplines of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, along with their enabling technologies. In our domain, CTED projects comprise all aspects, from architectures to prototypes to implementation, theoretical to hands-on. Our engineers work directly with corporate and U.S. Government customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

The Communication Systems Engineering Department (CSED) performs analysis, modeling and simulation, and laboratory activities to design and evaluate communication systems, signals, and signal processing algorithms for our customers. As an engineer within CSED, you will be solving challenging technical problems in the areas of communication, counter-communication, and related digital signal processing. Your technical expertise will help support various US Government military and national program needs as well as shape their futures!

Work Model:

This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, California.

What You'll Be Doing

* Apply academic knowledge to practical tasks in digital communication systems engineering under supervision and guidance.

* Simulate and analyze satellite communication systems.

* Use MATLAB or Python to simulate mathematical algorithms or evaluate system performance.

* Conduct analysis and present technical findings to team members and customers.

* Work closely with an interdisciplinary team.

* Training and mentorship will be provided.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements

* Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a bachelor's, degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or other related discipline.

* Minimum GPA of 3.0

* Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full- time after completion of the internship.

* Demonstrated mastery of engineering, mathematical, and scientific fundamentals consistent with your education to date.

* Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, or another language.

* This position requires the ability to obtain?and maintain?a security clearance,?which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

* GPA 3.5 or higher

* Active security clearance

* Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or other related discipline.

* Coursework in signals and systems, signal processing, and communication systems

* Coursework in probability and statistics

* Experience in engineering design projects.

* Experience using laboratory hardware.

* Strong software development skills in MATLAB, Python, or C++

* Experience in developing and delivering presentations and working in small groups.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
