Reporter - WHBQ Memphis
Are you driven by a need to find the truth? Do you believe in the power of local journalism? At FOX13 Memphis, we believe in using our powerful voice to benefit our entire community. We are currently seeking an enterprising and energetic reporter. You will join a dynamic newsroom that emphasizes breaking news, daily investigative journalism, and active coverage of severe weather. You will be expected to develop sources and hone your beat to enterprise important journalism daily. Reporters must be adept at using all digital platforms to gather and break stories. The right candidate may also be asked to fill-in anchor.
Enterprise stories and develop relationships with sourcesFoster strong community relationshipsRemain extremely knowledgeable of all local and national newsPitch original local stories with high valueExecute direction presented in station researchCreatively craft & present enterprise storiesWrite accurate, grammatically correct scriptsAdhere to strict newsroom deadlinesPresent stories with dynamic and demonstrative live shotsApply station guidelines in using social mediaFill-in anchor possibilitiesRequirements
Degree in journalism or related field2 years of reporting experienceDemonstrate solid news judgmentMust be a team player willing to collaborateMust value a diversity of voices to build strong journalismExcel under pressureMust be able to carry and operate up to 50 lbs. in gear and camera equipmentMust have a drivers license and a good driving record
