Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Communications Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role is designed to enhance the awareness of the company in the US East and Gulf Coast regions through various communication channels. The position will involve both employee communications and external communications, including media relations and social media. The role is primarily remote, with the expectation that candidates will be based within the Eastern or Central time zones.
ResponsibilitiesExecute and measure an existing communications strategy that supports business goals in the region.Build mini-strategies for key moments as they arise.Source and create stories that highlight employees' contributions, the company's innovative work, and community investments.Manage regional media relations to share and vet stories for traditional local media in nine markets.Communicate the Employer Brand narrative and Employer Value Proposition through various media and campaigns.Track and manage budgets for communication activities, including creating Purchase Orders and tracking vendor invoices.Liaise with other communications teams and key stakeholders to identify and amplify relevant stories.Essential Skills
Minimum 8 years of experience in communications or marketing fields.Minimum 8 years of experience with communications strategy and execution.Minimum 8 years of experience with media relations and social media.Minimum 8 years of experience with project management and stakeholder engagement.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experience developing communication plans that include employee audiences and media relations.Strong project management skills and ability to work across disciplines and teams.Experience using data to inform business decisions and a strong results orientation.Experience managing budgets and vendor teams.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Curiosity to quickly learn about new topics and distill key points for stakeholders.Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.Experience managing media relations on complex issues.Fluency with channel and content strategies, especially LinkedIn.Experience with crisis communications.Proficiency in SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, and other communication technologies.Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.Work Environment
This role is primarily remote, with candidates expected to be based within the Eastern or Central time zones. The position requires a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with no overtime or additional expenses. The employer will provide a compatible laptop, mouse, and headset. The work involves collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to execute communication strategies and manage media relations in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
