In the midst of a historic time in the media industry, Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach through new innovations from Bloomberg Originals to New Economy Forum.Bloomberg Media is looking for an editor in Singapore or Hong Kong to join our new and growing Weekend Edition team. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for intriguing and consequential stories at the intersections of culture, economics, business and politics; extensive regional knowledge; and a solid understanding of the interests and digital habits of audiences across the region. The Weekend Edition editor will commission essays, reviews, profiles and other stories, relying on both Bloomberg writers and freelancers with regional expertise. In addition, they will select Bloomberg coverage to promote, including our best enterprise stories, podcasts and videos; help prepare weekend newsletters; and collaborate with members of the design and production teams to create imaginative, immersive and useful digital experiences.We’ll trust you to:Work with beat reporting teams in the region, as well as freelancers, to solicit ideas and commission stories for the weekend editionEdit copy filed into the weekend team, and sometimes write pitch and write stories yourselfCollaborate with design, audience and production to build out high-touch visual and interactive storiesSelect content from the region to promote in the weekend packageCoordinate with the weekend breaking news team in the region, and collaborate with Weekend Edition editors in Sydney, Hong Kong, London, New York and Washington DCUse analytics to understand how our readers are consuming weekend content and adjust editorial decision-making based on user data and subscriber feedbackYou’ll need to have:At least 5 years of experience in a digital news environmentExperience commissioning and editing long-form and enterprise journalismExperience in using web publishing tools or CMSA substantial grounding in financial journalism, as well as interest and experience writing and editing in other subject areas — for example, culture, politics, travel, sportsA strong understanding of how digital audiences are evolving, analytics and the digital subscription ecosystemThe ability to network and build relationships across our large global newsroom, and among freelancers throughout the regionEntrepreneurialism and flexibilityDemonstrated continuous career growth within an organisationLife at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
