This is a paid freelance, remote position.

 

If you’re an experienced writer with a finger on the pulse of the Anime world, CBR wants you to join its award-winning writing team! CBR is the oldest and most respected comic book culture website in the world. It is the internet’s first and final stop for nerd culture, news, commentary and community. 

 

Our editorial team is looking for writers to create the kind of fun, informative, and engaging Anime articles that our discerning audience demands, with the eye-catching aesthetic they crave. The selected candidate will have tremendous career growth and internal development opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications 

 
  • A passion for anime, writing, and a drive to grow within the industry 
  • Broad working knowledge of Anime - with an emphasis on Solo Leveling, but also including popular series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Avatar/Korra, Studio Ghibli, Sailor Moon, Isekai, Pokémon, One Punch Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen) 
  • Up to date with new anime
  • The ability to analyze content and pull directly from the source material to back up claims 
  • A sharp eye for grammatical details 
  • Excellent command of the English language 
  • Ability to write high-quality articles with swift turn-around times 
  • Comfortable working in an entirely virtual environment 
  • Should possess a general understanding of anime culture and strong research skills
 

Responsibilities 

 
  • Write a minimum of 5 articles per week in CBR’s house style (following the requisite training) 
    • This will include writing three regular sized Lists or Features (1,400 words), and two Long Lists or Super Features (2,000 words). 
  • This will include fact-checking, formatting, linking, and image sourcing/very basic editing (sizing, brightness, etc.) 
  • Brainstorm, pitch, and develop original content ideas that’ll be published on-site
  • Accept and apply any/all feedback received by the editorial team
  • Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team
