Position SummaryThe Digital Marketing & Content Strategist position will develop the marketing and content strategy for the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) and is a key member of the SPIA Office of Development and External Relations (ODER) under the supervision of the Director of External Relations.This position will execute and drive reputation-elevating and recruitment results through their communication campaigns and marketing projects and is a champion for various SPIA audiences, both internal and external. This team member is a big-picture thinker with technical and creative skills and is responsible for both the long-term and day-to-day marketing plans and social media for SPIA.This position will identify target markets, determine and coordinate optimal strategies for the promotion of SPIA content (digital advertising, digital newsletters, social media, print collateral etc.), and develop promotional and brand content for traditional and digital consumption to increase national and international visibility. This position will collaborate with SPIA stakeholders and cross-functional internal department teams, including all departments, centers, and programs, to create strategic marketing plans to achieve school-wide and departmental goals.Being embedded in the operations of SPIA ODER, this position will work closely with the Director of External Relations and the Development and Alumni Relations team to contribute to the planning and strategic development of high-level, high-visibility projects and will develop and implement social media strategies to grow and maintain engagement with our online constituent community.This position encourages creativity and requires originality and talent that is proven by quality writing, graphic design, and digital marketing samples.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Ability to use P-Card for job related duties
Experience in digital marketing - website, emails, social media, SEO, CMS, CRM, etc.
Deep knowledge of social media platforms, current trends, and performance analytics
Experience using metrics and data to evaluate and guide marketing efforts.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, strong AP Style background
Strong grasp of design principles, layout, and brand identity; proven experience adhering to established brand guidelines
Proficient in graphic design software and multimedia content creation. Experienced working with Canva as well as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Keen attention to detail with project management skills. Familiar with project management software (Asana, Monday, etc.).
Experience working with AI to support marketing tactics
Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of groups, including students, staff, alumni, faculty and administrators

Partner with third-party vendors to develop, execute and optimize targeted paid media campaigns with partner media outlets
Manage paid media budget, making purchases through the use of University purchasing card, organizing and handling receipts, and assist in the accounting process
Work with SPIA leadership, departments and units to identify organic and paid digital campaign priorities and advise on best allocation of funds
Design marketing collateral
Work with the SPIA Director of External Affairs and departmental leadership to identify or create marketing content that is timely, engaging, and optimizes SEO for effective print collateral, publications, websites, and media outlets to elevate SPIA's brand visibility
