Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is looking for a Creative Services Design Specialist to join our growing in-house design team. The mid- to senior-level designer will support the Firm's Business Development efforts through collaboration on global branding, marketing and communications initiatives for both internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate will be an adept and proactive team player, demonstrate strong graphic design and production skills, possess a campaign mindset and have the ability to translate complex data and information into visually engaging solutions for business development materials, pitch presentations and marketing and event collateral for both print and digital channels. You should demonstrate a solid understanding of how the Firm's brand strategy plays into the global marketing ecosystem and emerging design/marketing trends.

You will report to the Branding & Creative Manager and work closely with other local team members. You will also communicate and collaborate regularly with a global team of approximately 170 diverse problem-solvers and advisors dedicated to the broader BD, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Kirkland's international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Work independently and manage their projects and day-to-day tasks, as well act as the design expert when consulting with their clients, peers and broader team.
  2. Partner with a diverse team of business development stakeholders to understand goals, strategies and target audiences.
  3. Develop unique and engaging campaigns concepts for client events and communications.
  4. Create engaging client presentations and pitch decks which translate brand stories and data into clear, compelling visual presentations.
  5. Create and maintain templates, pitch decks, documents, custom presentations and graphics.
  6. Develop branded charts, graphs, tables, icons, illustrations and infographics.
  7. Know our brand guidelines inside and out - be a key brand evangelist and ensure consistent visual branding across all presentations.
  8. Actively share design recommendations and rationale in brainstorming sessions.
  9. Source, edit and organize assets in the digital asset management library.
  10. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the company, including its brand, offerings, audiences and industries.
  11. Coordinate on special requests with the Document Services and Presentation Design teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

While the list below encompasses our preferred qualifications, we encourage our design team to have a passion for learning new skills and to take advantage of Firm-sponsored professional development opportunities.
  • A B.A. or B.F.A. in graphic design or related field, with coursework/experience in marketing/communications a plus
  • 5-7+ years of presentation design experience, with at least 2 years of in-house corporate design experience
  • Excellent client service orientation with interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with various levels of personnel, internally and externally, including existing and potential clients.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, clients, staff and guests of the Firm.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and execute a diverse range of tasks against tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail
  • Must include link to portfolio in resume

Preferred
  • Experience working in professional or financial services.

Technologies/Software

Required:
    • Mastery of PowerPoint
    • High proficiency in Adobe CC (specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) and not shy about translating designs into PowerPoint for our general users.

Preferred:
  • Experience with audio and video editing (After Effects, Premier Pro), and digital asset management preferred.
  • Experience working in an e-mail marketing platform
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and responsive design
  • Working knowledge of appropriate image quality, resolution and color mode according to intended project usage

Compensation:

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. We also offer an exceptional range of flexible benefits, personal support and tailored learning and development opportunities all designed to help you realize your full potential both in life and at work.
  • New York City - $95,000 -$121,000
