Job Summary:
The Senior Art Director, Global Design Studio is a forward-thinker who is an expert in visual storytelling and creative brand building, with proven ability to create disruptive and exciting visual assets This role will focus on developing effective, concept driven creative that's strongly rooted in marketing strategy and business needs, within the areas of advertising (on-line and off-line), 2D & 3D Collateral, and Visual Merchandising & Events.
The Senior Art Director, Global Design Studio must be a multi-faceted creative with in-depth experience of photo art direction (still and motion, on-model and product), a deep knowledge of print, digital and social platforms, and proven ability to understand marketing strategy and translate it into immersive visual storytelling experiences. Equally important is the ability to initiate, execute, and enforce Global guidelines to ensure a high level of global brand execution across all markets.
This individual will also be expected to partner closely with the Executive Director/VP of the Global Design Studio to inspire and direct the team.
Candidates for this role must be highly creative with extremely strong executional skills, and the ability to address complex creative challenges and business needs. They must be pro-active, flexible, driven, and be a team player who embodies NARS' passion and positive attitude.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Lead the creation, maintenance, and oversee the adherence to various global creative guidelines used by our markets to execute final assets in-market. Such assets include layout and crop guidelines for Out-of-Home and Point-of-Sale advertising, evergreen product photography, and printed collateral.Oversee the development and sampling of in-store gifting and loyalty collateral projects to support evergreen, launch specific, and other in-store promotional moments. Development includes creative concepting, DTO creation, and sample review of gifting and TOA focused collateral such as: limited edition makeup cases, mirrors, shoppers, tissue paper, ribbon, and other elements.Lead asset creation projects for seasonal launches, global initiatives, and evergreen support spanning on-model, product, photo and computer-generated stills and video.Motivate and fully utilize team members in fulfilling the above initiatives.Management of team workflows; ensuring that deliverables are on-time.Qualifications & Competencies:
BFA or higher in design or related field7+ years related overall experience with 3+ years of that experience at an Art Director level at a creative agency or in-house at a leading relevant beauty brand.Must have experience in overseeing a team and demonstrate the ability to be an inspiring leader. This role requires management of full-time team members at various levels of expertise alongside freelancers.A strong multi-disciplinary background in art direction, motion & animation, print, packagingAbility to develop and express creative concepts in 2D and 3D.Experience working with 3D collateral samples and vendors, including those that produce soft goods, packaging, and other 3D promotional items.Ability to understand, develop, and translate creative direction into comprehensive guidelines for vendors, and other external partners.Expert understanding and hands-on demonstrable experience in asset creation (still and motion, on-model and product) from concept to on-set photo art direction, pre- and post-production, as well as in the application of assets throughout digital & social channels (knowledge of platform and marketing best practices, flow, pace, engagement, structure, environment, and building narrative).Equally comfortable and able to provide effective oversight or be hands-on and execute projects independently.Expert knowledge of Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Bridge, etc.)Consistently deliver high-quality work on time and with attention to detail.Willingness and ability to be reactive, flexible, and resourceful under tight deadlines; thrive in a fast-paced environment; anticipate needs to quickly identify solutions.Highly organized, passionate, collaborative, energetic, positive, self-starter, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
