Technical Designer, Denim

This is a work-to-hire or permanent full-time role for a candidate who can work in a fast-paced, high volume, fashion environment while maintaining accuracy.The Denim Technical Designer should be highly motivated, meticulous with details, and driven by the technical aspects of the design process. The position requires the maintenance of established fits within the same bodies through measuring garments; creating and updating all fitting information related to the garment; and growing/maintaining the block library. Capable of juggling multiple deadlines and tasks to meet deadlines. This position works within the technical design team, led by the Director of Technical Design to maintain processes and upkeep of fit logs and deadlines.Major Responsibilities:Other duties may be assigned.Proficient knowledge of POM's and how to accurately spec garments.Log/track samples maintained by fit lists.Prep and evaluate samples to ensure previous comments have been executed.Lead fittings with clear and accurate knowledge of history and how to execute the comments.Maintain the block library per style after approvals have been sent.Able to comment back to vendors on fit information quickly, clearly, and accurately so they understand the issue.Understanding of fit stages and how to effect seasonal deliveries/deadlines successfully.Manage clear daily communication with all necessary cross-functional teams and overseas vendors.Create/establish initial specs based on existing body blocks to uphold their aesthetic for fit and silhouette, including measurements, construction details, and technical sketches.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:Basic understanding of denim garment construction and techniques.Basic understanding of patterns and how to relate this to fit and comment assessment.Ability to accurately spec garments.Strong attention to detail and extensive knowledge of inner components.Ability to multi-task with effective organizational skills.Collaborate with Design and corresponding teams to determine fit and priorities to meet timelinesStrong verbal and written communication skills while able to take direction.Highly motivated with a positive and dependable attitude; team player.Enthusiastic and willing to learn.Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment and its changes.Proactive with problem-solving and seeks input for optimum resolutions as needed.Minimum Qualifications:College degree in a related fieldAssociate degree in Product Development, Fashion Design, Buying, Tech Design, or Merchandising or equivalent experience2+ years of experience in a related field (Technical Design, Pattern Making, or Design), denim experience is a plus.Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Qualifications:Proficient in Adobe Illustrator/PhotoshopPrevious training/experience with industry-relevant software, such as web-based t/p systems.Basic hands-on knowledge of sewing and/or basic Gerber knowledgeBenefits package:Room for Growth/PromotionPaid vacation/holidaysMedical insurance/dental/vision401 (k) Savings Plan with company match plansMerchandise discounts
