Position Overview:
As an Audio-Visual Installation Technician II, you will be responsible for the seamless installation of AV, IT, and security systems. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, hands-on skills, and an eye for detail. You will work with a range of AV devices and network systems, ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
System Installation: Execute the installation of audio-visual, IT, and security systems in commercial spaces, following detailed blueprints and schematics.
Cable Termination & Wiring: Pull, terminate, and label various low-voltage cables (CAT 5, CAT 6, CAT 7, Coax RG6/11, HDMI) with precision and in compliance with industry standards.
Technical Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret floor plans, line diagrams, rack elevations, and other technical documentation to ensure the proper placement and connection of AV equipment.
Support Structures: Install and secure IT racks, cable ladders, bridal rings, and other support structures to facilitate the setup of systems.
AV Device Installation: Install, calibrate, and test a wide variety of AV devices, including displays, speakers, microphones, video conferencing systems, digital signage, and control systems.
Security Systems Setup: Deploy security devices such as cameras, access control units, and intercom systems. Experience with security system programming is a plus.
Networking Configuration: Set up and configure networking equipment, including access points, routers, switches, and power supplies to optimize system performance.
Automation & Control Systems: Configure and troubleshoot AV control systems like Crestron, Lutron, Atlona, Q-SYS, Biamp, and Extron.
Audio System Setup: Install and test audio systems, with knowledge of ohms and 70/100-volt systems.
Reporting: Provide daily progress reports, documenting work completed and any challenges encountered on-site.
Skills & Experience Required:
Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on experience in commercial AV system installations, including AV, IT, and security systems.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in low-voltage wiring and termination, with familiarity in configuring equipment from top manufacturers such as Cisco, AMX, Crestron, Q-SYS, Atlona, Extron, Polycom, Shure, and Biamp.
Tools: Must have a complete set of basic hand tools and the ability to use them effectively.
Travel & Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively within the region and adapt to varying work hours, including occasional evening or weekend shifts.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and progress updates to clients and project teams.
Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and troubleshoot issues that arise during installation.
Customer Service: Professional demeanor and a focus on delivering exceptional service to clients, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in diverse conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.
Safety Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification, along with completion of SST-302 & SST-307 training classes, is required.
Preferred Certifications:
Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, Shure, Polycom, Atlona, or Biamp certification is a plus and will be considered an asset for advancement.
