Adjunct, Graphic Design

Position Summary and Qualifications:
Saint Joseph's University's Department of Art & Art History has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach a variety of courses each semester. Likely assignments include introductory courses in Graphic Design, Typography, Web Design and User Interface design.

Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct one or two courses each semester on an as-needed basis.

Duties andResponsibilities:

Teaching of a specified course(s) in Design

Preparation of materials

Providing support and guidance to students

Holding regular office hours

Reporting mid-semester and final grades electronically

Knowledge and experience with Canvas or other learning management system or similar learning/advising management systems

Demonstrated:-mastery of technical skills related to Graphic Design, Web Design and UX design

SecondaryResponsibilities:

Occasional meetings with Department Chair and other faculty-members to discuss pedagogy

Cooperation with course coordinators or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program

Minimum Requirements:

MFA Degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous teaching experience and a willingness to be flexible and responsive in designing course curriculum to meet the needs of SJU students who may not have a background in previously studying studio art.
