Job Overview:

Director of Communications will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate New Jersey Community Capital's mission. The Director of Communications will ensure that the Organization is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within this diverse network and constituent base.

The Director of Communications will work closely with the C-suite and a senior peer group within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. In addition, frequent contact with Executive Management, Community and Political leaders, other external stakeholders and partners, and all members of staff.

Qualifications:7-10 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, or marketing with demonstrated ability to develop and execute custom, contemporary communications plans.An understanding of community development and the opportunities and challenges to be effective at NJCC.Strong background in public relations, communications, and/or community development with a track record in employing a culturally competent approach to marketing & communications.Experience in media relations, branding, and constituency management within a financial firm a plus.Experience developing and leading targeted media tours.Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills. Has a passion for how diverse audiences consume and experience content.High level of organizational skills; ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.Motivated, driven, and volunteers for new challenges without waiting to be asked. Takes ownership of the time spent to make a differenceHas superior ability to grow internal relationships across a wide range of teamsHas a high level of organization to work independently and handle multiple tasks.Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite graphics programs (especially InDesign).Experienced with Drupal content management system preferred.Prior supervisory experience preferredBachelor's degree in related field; Masters preferred, or equivalent experience.Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communication plan, working with the Director of Operations, Senior Staff, NJCC Board and Public Relations firm.Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate. Create success stories, highlighting impacts in local communities.Manage 3-party vendors which include external public relations firms.Create C-suite speaking engagements within the appropriate media platforms.Develop press releases and media advisories related to our programs and events.Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all NJCC marketing materials, including management of third-party design consultants.Develop presentation slides and graphics.Develop talking points/scripts to support NJCC Executive speaking engagements.Coordinate press and stakeholder events, such as project tours, open houses, and receptions, to build awareness of NJCC's successes and milestones.Coordinate webpage updates - ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time.Develop and maintain media relations and continually update media database.Interviews, hires, mentors, and manages Communications staff and fellows.Work with senior leadership team to bolster internal communication and awareness of program and organizational updates.Assist Resource Development staff in completing funding proposals, reports, and other special projects.Coordinate and organize meetings/events that engage the organization's discreet audiences (i.e., fundraisers, campaigns).Manage and build new media contacts nationally.
