We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Technical Designer to join our technical team. The Sr. Technical Designer will manage multiple product categories across Carter’s brands. This role typical reports into Manger or Sr. Manager of Technical Design, potentially has 1-2 direct reports and is based in our on-site work environment.

Apparel Development-

the blueprint of a garment

Management of tech pack development and associated tasks of assigned categories including those of any direct reports.

This position requires a higher level of technical, process management and problem-solving skills. Duties include but not limited to below details:

Tech Pack, Constructions and Technical Design Standards - 40%

You’ll start off by diving into design references and layout to create best in class Tech packs. You'll use your grading knowledge to ensure everything fits perfectly across different sizes and genders.

Execute fit consistency and provide construction options that strike the right balance of quality and value.

Keeping everything organized is key. Proactively manage overlapping deliverables and resolve issues to meet deadlines while retaining quality execution of tech packs

Fabric knowledge and application. Patternmaking, Safety and regulatory knowledge

Lead and support efforts as needed to align and implement standards

Support brands’ fit identity across categories as "brand ambassador"

Cross-Functional Collaboration- 30%

You’ll be collaborating with different teams all the time! Understanding market trends and interpreting our brand strategy is a big part of the job.

Your role will include interpreting design fit intentions while applying your market trend knowledge.

Plus, you'll support our brand’s fit identity and help make sure deliverable expectations are always in check

Sample Review and Collaboration- 30%

Patternmaking and manufacturing knowledge

Ensure design and fit intent execute as desired and to tech pack specifications

Influence decisions to maintain fit integrity & manufacturing efficiency while supporting business needs

Lead and support fit sessions & discussions as needed, analyze fit and accurately communicate corrections of assigned product category

3D skills- CLO, Browzwear, Optitex (highly preferred)

Gerber Accumark- 2D

PLM Software

Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Education

8-10+ Years Apparel Technical Design and Product Development + Associates Degree- Related Field (preferred) OR

6+ Years Apparel Technical Design and Product Development Experience + Bachelors Degree - Related Field

Minimum 2-4 Years Sr. TD or TD Experience- Multiple Categories
