Job Title/Description: Technical Services Manager
Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Services Manager to oversee critical engineering phases of projects within our Audio-Visual (AV) division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating engineering phases throughout the project life cycle, managing engineering documentation, equipment tracking and staging, fabrication oversight, programming scheduling, commissioning scheduling, and ensuring successful project completion.
This position will require primary management of a Divisional Tracking Checklist (DTC) similar model at the end of this document. Additionally, this position will require secondary management of the Master Project Schedule (MPS).
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate Critical Engineering Phases POST-AWARD:
· Oversee and manage critical engineering phases of projects from initiation to completion.
· Ensure adherence to project schedules and deadlines. Coordinate with Division Manager or General Foreman on Master Project Schedule (Figure 1).
· Collaborate with project teams to identify and address engineering requirements and challenges.
· Implement best practices for engineering processes and workflows.
2. Management of Engineering Documentation:
· Maintain and manage engineering documentation post-award, including signal flow diagrams, rack charts, elevation details, reflected ceiling plans, and peripheral location drawings.
· Ensure accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of engineering documentation.
· Organize and catalog engineering documentation for easy retrieval and reference.
3. Equipment Tracking and Staging:
· Track equipment procurement, delivery, and staging for projects.
· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment.
· Manage equipment inventory and ensure availability for project requirements.
4. Fabrication Oversight:
· Oversee fabrication processes to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
· Monitor fabrication schedules and progress to mitigate delays and issues.
5. Programming Scheduling:
· Develop and maintain schedules for programming tasks.
· Coordinate programming activities with project teams and stakeholders.
· Ensure timely completion of programming tasks to support project milestones.
6. Commissioning Scheduling:
· Develop commissioning schedules and plans.
· Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams and stakeholders.
· Oversee commissioning processes to ensure systems are functioning as intended.
7. Weekly Meetings with AV Division Manager:
· Meet with the AV Division Manager weekly to provide project status updates.
· Identify and communicate any roadblocks, issues, or concerns impacting project progress.
· Collaborate with the AV Division Manager to resolve issues and optimize project performance.
8. Assembly of Sign-off/Acceptance Documentation:
· Compile and organize sign-off and acceptance documentation for project completion.
· Ensure accuracy and completeness of sign-off documentation.
· Obtain necessary approvals and signatures from stakeholders.
9. As-Built Documentation:
· Gather and assemble as-built information for completed projects.
· Update engineering documentation to reflect as-built conditions accurately.
· Ensure proper documentation and archival of project as-built information.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
· Proven experience in project management, preferably in the AV industry.
· Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and diagrams.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
· Familiarity with MS Project
· Experience with AV systems design and integration.
· Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
· Experience with CAD software for engineering documentation.
· Knowledge of audio, video, and control systems.
