Job SummaryAs a key member of the Chicago Booth marketing department, the Director of Interactive Marketing will bring strong UX design leadership and hands-on interface design skills to identify, define, and concept web applications, portals, and websites that support the Chicago Booth Brand and meet the needs of a diverse user population. Strong design thinking and hands-on leadership across cross-functional teams will be key elements of success in this highly collaborative role. The Director will gather user insights via qualitative and quantitative methods, translating those insights into actionable features and functionality that can be prototypes, validated with users, and generated into final designs for development. Establish and deliver against metrics that show user acceptance, adoption, and promotion of the Chicago Booth digital experience.

The Director of Interactive Marketing will lead the development team and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and achieve organizational goals. This director will leverage their digital expertise to produce integrated multi-channel digital experiences that support the Chicago Booth brand in collaboration with Creative in essential areas of user experience design, information architecture, interface design, and digital advertising.

Responsibilities

Manages and oversees the development team.

Oversees the design, development, and ongoing optimization of Chicago Booth website properties, ensuring they meet brand consistency and are responsive and accessible across all devices and platforms.

Leads the development and execution of the UX vision and outputs to create intuitive, engaging, and innovative user experiences. Manages user research, persona development, wire framing, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure all digital products are user-friendly and meet the needs of diverse audiences.

Ensures Chicago Booth website properties comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1). Conducts ongoing audits and improvements for inclusivity in design and functionality.

Works closely with teams to ensure digital initiatives align with UX best practices and accessibility requirements. Coordinates with external vendors and developers as necessary.

Communicates and presents design vision to key stakeholders to build cross-functional consensus.

Oversees adequate documentation and communication of design via wireframes, mockups, requirements engineering, and UI components.

In collaboration with Creative, contributes to the marketing efforts of Chicago Booth to assist with execution of integrated digital enterprise marketing initiatives. Assists other creative team members and offer solicited or unsolicited design/creative advice on their projects.

Assesses, maintains, and develops template design programs, including email, apps, and website site libraries. Proactively audits and revises design templates.

Stays up-to-date on digital trends, UX best practices, accessibility, and emerging technologies. Propose and implement innovative solutions that improve Booth’s digital experience.

Manages employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance, and determining individual merit, incentive and/or promotional increases.

Maintains departmental priorities, allocates resources, and determines project direction in line with established priorities.

Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum QualificationsEducation:Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred QualificationsEducation:

Bachelor’s degree.

Degree in user experience, digital media, or related field.

Experience:

A minimum eight years of experience in UX/UI, or a related field.

A minimum eight years of experience in digital design, creative advertising, and multimedia.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

Deep knowledge of and fluency with Adobe Creative Cloud.

Knowledge of interactive and mobile user experience design, CSS and HTML5 protocols and best practices.

Sitecore experience.

Preferred Competencies

Outstanding attention to detail, juggle multiple projects in deadline-oriented environment.

Presentation and organizational skills.

Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work successfully under pressure.

Work successfully with a wide variety of people inside and outside the University.

Present concepts effectively to the central Marketing Team, its partners, and the larger Chicago Booth community.

Work successfully as part of a team, including give and receive constructive feedback and articulate and defend a principled point of view.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes.

Working Conditions

This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
