The Role
As an Account Director, Public Relations, you are running accounts autonomously, driving the overarching account strategy while ensuring the team is set up for success and understands their roles and responsibilities. You’re the main client contact for nuanced conversations related to the team and the work, driving strategy and deliverables to ensure results each quarter. You guide your team to achieve hits by helping to identify the right media for a story and offering feedback and coaching along the way.
Duties and Responsibilities
Account + Client Management
Travel for client needs
Lead hospitality campaigns, e.g., crisis, renovation, hotel openings
Create, execute, delegate, & course correct overarching account strategies
Implement strategies and oversee performance of KPIs
Review reports and course correct as needed
Act as a trusted partner to clients, leading challenging conversations
Oversee scopes of work and direct teams to conduct meaningful work based on clients’ goals
Monitor team activity to ensure budgets and client satisfaction
Provide guidance and resources for day-to-day account success
Design impactful PR campaigns and partnerships
Help with any task to showcase leadership skills
Manage conversations with clients relating to contract renewal
Demonstrate leadership by providing knowledge and advice
Understand client business goals and lead account strategy for measurable ROI
Craft goal-setting processes with clients
Nurture client accounts with proven tactics
Identify add-on projects for clients and seek opportunities to expand retainer fees
Media Relations
Success is measured by team members achieving campaign marks
Create pitches that land in larger features and meaningful sections
Guide teams to proper media who will execute KPI story ideas
Nurture A-list media relationships for key placements
Remain relevant in the changing media landscape
New Business
Provide thought leadership for new business proposals
Attend new business meetings as the voice of account leadership
Build a personal network of contacts leading to new business opportunities
Develop a specialty area at the agency
Attend conferences and events to build your network
Mentor and guide team members
Manage team retention by creating growth opportunities
Plan and implement efficient processes and training
Champion and promote the J/PR culture
Stay informed on industry trends
Understand and discuss social media capabilities
Responsible for developing educational workshops each year
Other
And other tasks, projects, or duties as required
Experience
College Degree or comparable experience required
At least 10 years of public relations experience in hospitality, culinary, travel, tourism, restaurant, and/or consumer lifestyle arenas
Agency or in-house experience is a plus
Requirements
Ability to travel for client needs

Strong relationships with media contacts
Effective management skills
Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office in a Mac OS environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Creative problem solver with a track record of delivering results
Ability to handle time-sensitive projects and prioritize objectives
Solid leadership and coaching skills
Valid passport for international travel
J/PR offers a competitive benefits package, including:
Competitive base salary: $98,000- $105,000, commensurate with experience
