The Creative Director will define and execute the creative vision for Horizon Hobby and its family of brands. This individual will bring a mix of creative strategy, people leadership, and a passion for building the next great global brand. Leading a diverse creative team of 25+, this role will lead the execution of creative concepts across a wide range of media including digital, social, packaging, print, and experiential. With the majority of creative resources on-site, this individual will need to be in the Champaign, IL headquarters at least two times per month – so a candidate that is local or within driving distance is strongly preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
Set the creative direction for Horizon Hobby and its family of brands (visual guidelines, voice, etc).
Create a cohesive representation of our brand position across marketing channels, packaging, events and in-store presentations.
Develop and execute creative concepts and campaigns that align with brand objectives and identities.
Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for a variety of audiences.
Lead and manage the creative team, including graphic designers, copywriters, and other creative professionals.
Collaborate with Marketing, DTC, and eCommerce to understand their goals and develop creative strategies that meet their needs.
Oversee the development of all creative materials, including print and digital ads, social media content, website content, POP displays, events, and product materials.
Ensure all creative work is on-brand and meets quality standards.
Recruit and onboard leading creative agency to support strategy definition and execution.
Manage the creative process from concept to final execution, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Identify opportunities to drive day-to-day operational efficiencies to manage the creative services development & production processes.
Stay up to date with creative industry and technical trends and best practices in creative production.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in a creative leadership role, with a focus on developing and executing creative concepts across various media.
Proven experience in managing and leading creative teams.
Strong conceptual thinking and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong understanding of branding, advertising, and marketing principles.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of the technology industry and trends.
