Full-Time Position Overview: The Communications Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization's communication strategies, with a focus on social media, media relations, content creation, and brand management. The ideal candidate will have experience in basic photography, videography, and graphic design using tools like Canva, and will help ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. The Communications Manager will also play a critical role in securing earned media through press releases and building relationships with key media contacts. Key Responsibilities: Communications Strategy & Brand Management
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to support SAVE’s advocacy, community, donor outreach, and voter education goals. Ensure brand consistency and messaging alignment across all channels, including social media, digital, and print platforms. Create and manage engaging content, including videos, press releases, newsletters, blog posts, brochures, and email campaigns. Social Media Management & Content Creation Develop and execute social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), creating posts that engage SAVE’s audience and encourage participation. Capture and edit photos and videos for social media, newsletters, and events. Organize and maintain a library of photos and videos for future use. Design graphics for digital (e.g., social media, email campaigns, website) and print use (e.g., fundraising and political literature such as door hangers, palm cards), ensuring alignment with SAVE’s branding guidelines. Use tools like Canva to create branded templates and visual content for event promotions and donor outreach. Track and report on social media metrics, adjusting strategies based on performance. Monitor and engage with followers, responding to comments and inquiries in a timely manner. Public Relations & Media Engagement Build relationships with journalists and media outlets to increase media coverage for SAVE’s initiatives. Draft press releases, media advisories, and op-eds, and respond to media inquiries. Organize and host press conferences and media appearances, ensuring clear messaging on SAVE’s key issues. Create and update press kits and other media materials for outreach. Stakeholder & Community Engagement Engage SAVE’s supporters, donors, and community partners through consistent messaging and media outreach. Collaborate with advocacy teams to support communications around voter outreach, legislative initiatives, and community events like the Champions of Equality Gala. Create and disseminate advocacy and voter education resources (e.g., voter education toolkits, fact sheets) to mobilize SAVE’s audience. Serve as a point of contact for external partners and coalitions, ensuring consistent messaging across joint actions and initiatives. Digital & Print Strategy & Analytics Monitor and analyze communications metrics (website traffic, social media engagement, email performance) to refine strategies. Manage website content updates and report on campaign performance, identifying growth opportunities. Use analytics tools to report on campaign performance and engagement, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement across digital and print platforms. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (preferred). Proven experience in social media management, content creation, and graphic design. Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools. Strong writing skills with experience in press release writing and media relations. Basic photography and video editing skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with the political and advocacy landscape, particularly LGBTQ+ issues. Experience managing communications for non-profit or political organizations. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Compensation: Salary is $55,000 annually with health benefits.
