Position Summary

The Communications Manager is responsible for creating and executing an internal communications strategy focused on streamlining communication and engaging both corporate and field audiences. Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, this position will partner with internal teams to implement new communications processes across the organization, centrally managing the flow of information across a variety of channels. Additionally, this position will serve as a content manager for the company intranet, support internal meetings and events, and partner with the Marketing team to support external PR initiatives.

This position is best suited for a skilled communicator with significant experience in developing and implementing new processes across a variety of teams, working comfortably with individuals at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will also possess strong interpersonal and project management skills, as well as a passion for creating engaging content and experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work alongside leadership to develop new internal communications function and strategy, leading the implementation of new processes to manage the flow of information within the organizationCreate and manage communication calendars for both the field and corporate audiences, sending communications on behalf of project owners, executives, and various corporate departmentsCreate branded email templates for internal communicationsWrite compelling email copy, ensuring all messaging utilizes the voice and tone appropriate for the specific audienceWork cross-functionally across corporate teams, executing communication initiatives from concept to deliveryPartner with Project Management function in development and execution of communication schedule for organization-wide projectsPartner with Marketing leadership and external consultants in support of corporate PR effortsSupport communication needs of internal and external Marketing, Human Resources, and Operations projects as neededSupport ongoing maintenance and content management of the company intranetManage content gathering and creation for internal newslettersSupport company meetings such as town halls and leadership meetings, assisting with presentations as neededSupport corporate emergency response and crisis communication efforts, partnering with leadership and external consultants/agenciesStay up-to-date on the latest communications technology and relevant digital platforms to provide the best methods for effective internal communicationEstablish key performance indicators and benchmarks to measure the success of internal communications initiativesSupport monthly and quarterly reporting effortsContinuously seek opportunities to strengthen communication and improve efficiency across the organizationAct as a brand steward for all entities across the Blue River PetCare networkEducation Requirements

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, or relevant field. Or associate's degree with 10+ years of professional experience in a related field.Basic Qualifications

Or associate's degree with 10+ years of professional experience in a related field.Six+ years of experience in professional communications-specific role (internships will not count towards this requirement)Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environmentExcellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, delegate, and meet deadlinesExceptional attention to detailStrong copywriting and content creation skillsWorking knowledge of Mailchimp, Stripo, and Monday.com (or equivalent platforms) preferredExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organizationVeterinary or healthcare industry experience preferred, but not required. If no experience, must have the ability to quickly develop a strong working knowledge of the industry.Portfolio of previous work preferredExperience working with an organization with multiple brands/brand voices preferredPhysical Requirements
