Want to transform how Alexa helps customers stay in touch with people? The Alexa Communications UX Design team is seeking a Senior Voice User Interface / Conversational AI Experience Designer to create natural language interactions that leverage the power of Alexa.
As a Senior Conversation Designer, you will focus on improving how customers use Alexa in their daily lives to stay in touch and communicate with household members, family and friends. You will work side-by-side with UX designers, user researchers, product, and engineering to identify, define, and implement solutions that raise the bar on the Alexa customer experience. You must excel at communicating your designs effectively to the larger team and driving that vision into solid design deliverables. Key job responsibilities
Create world-class, user-centered conversation designs with consideration of market research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability findings
Translate business requirements into use cases and high-level customer experience requirements
Design the architecture and interaction flow of voice experiences
Develop conceptual diagrams, prototypes, and ready-to-implement design specifications or documentation
Write sample dialog interactions and language model training data
Work with data science and engineering teams to assess and optimize new and existing features
Present design work to the user experience team, product team, leadership, and external partners for review and feedback
Develop high level strategy of Alexa Communications features for both near and long term
Collaborate with other design team members on frameworks, processes, design systems, and best practices
Demonstrate leadership in driving design processes into the organization that help refine strategy

Basic Qualifications
8+ years of design experience
Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards
Have an available online portfolio
Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps
Experience designing in an agile development environment
Bachelor's degree in linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, human-computer interaction (HCI), design, or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of professional work experience as a voice/conversation designer or similar UX-related role
Experience working directly with developers for implementation of designs
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with voice design tools, such as VoiceFlow, Figma, Adobe XD, Gliffy, Omnigraffle or Visio
Experience designing with tools such as Figma, Adobe CC, InVision, or similar
Professional experience with conversation or natural language interface design, specifically spoken interactions
Experience working with advanced machine learning pipelines
Ability to extract complex concepts and quickly turn around sample interactions reflecting a range of options
Experience designing for LLMs
Deep understanding and leadership on driving conversation design culture for organizations
Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment
Additional design skills in related fields, including prototyping multimodal interactions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
