  1. Position Summary

The responsibilities of this position comprise of teaching in-person undergraduate level courses in finance, marketing, sport and event management, economics, or related fields for majors and minors in business administration, accounting, sport and event management, and those seeking to fulfill general education requirements. As an Adjunct Faculty member, the post holder is expected to perform all duties professionally, is expected to remain current in the discipline and pedagogy and ethically support the policies and mission of the University.

Direct Report to: Dean of the School of the School of Business and Communication.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-depth lectures and lead discussions on finance, marketing, sport and event management, economics, and related fields, covering topics such as financial principles, marketing strategies, event management, economic theory, leadership, data analysis, ethics, entrepreneurship, business law, and technology, while developing course materials, fostering an engaging classroom, advising students, conducting research, collaborating with colleagues, engaging with industry professionals, assessing student performance, participating in professional development, and contributing to community service.
  • Develop comprehensive course materials including lectures, assignments, readings, and applied exercises, to effectively convey key marketing concepts and promote critical thinking.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, exams, and class participation to support student learning and development
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and academic growth.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in the respective field of finance, marketing, sport and event management, economics, and related fields, including emerging trends, research, and real-world applications, and integrate relevant insights into the curriculum.
  • Attend departmental meetings to contribute to program planning, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives, as required.
  • Participate in faculty development activities, such as workshops and seminars, to enhance teaching effectiveness, incorporate innovative pedagogical approaches, and stay current with best practices in higher education.

Minimum
  • Master's degree in business administration, finance, marketing, sport and event management, economics, or related field
  • Prior teaching experience

Preferred
  • Ph.D. in business administration, finance, marketing, sport and event management, economics, or related field
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  1. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment
  • Strong knowledge of marketing theories, principles, and applications, with expertise in areas such as market segmentation, consumer behavior, brand management, digital marketing, and strategic marketing planning.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and ability to use it to enhance student learning, including online resources, multimedia tools, and interactive platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in course planning, delivery, and assessment
  • Dedication to providing high quality education to students, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources effectively, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently, maintaining productivity and meeting academic schedules
  • High integrity and ethical standards, adhering to professional codes of conduct and promoting a culture of academic honesty and integrity within the classroom and university community

  1. Physical Requirements

Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

  1. Other Requirements
  • This is a part time, exempt position. Nineteen hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule
  • Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
  • Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner
