Job DescriptionWMAQ-TV, the NBCUniversal station in Chicago is looking for a Sports Anchor/Reporter to be responsible for gathering information on many current sports events, games and personalities and preparing the information for live on-air broadcast presentation. Responsibilities include providing anchored sports segment(s) for newscasts. Will function in Sports Anchor and Reporter roles, both for on-air and on Station's web site, or another digital platform as assigned. Will work within a strong team environment.
Qualifications- Minimum of 4 years television news anchor/reporter experience covering Sports.
- BA or BS in Journalism, Communications or related field.
- This is an AFTRA-union represented position. If not now a member, membership will be required upon hire.
Desired Qualifications:
- Very knowledgeable of all Chicago sports teams and personnel
- Must be able to work varied work schedules during the week and work weekends when needed.
- Must have strong speech skills to communicate and present effectively on-air during live broadcasts, during breaking news situations and able to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, individually as well as with co-anchors.
- Must have excellent interviewing skills.
- Must be able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines on a regular basis.
- Must have excellent computer skills and ability to work with a variety of computer applications.
Additional Requirements:
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
