Job Description
Noble 33 is an international restaurant group committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences through innovative design and operational excellence. The Design Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the visual and operational identity of our global restaurant group. This position is responsible for leading the design process across all projects and ensuring alignment with brand standards, operational efficiency, and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and Maintain Design Standards: Create and document design and operational standards for all Noble 33 brands.
• Lead the Design Process: Oversee design for new construction, remodels, and special projects, ensuring adherence to brand standards, aesthetic integrity, and operational efficiency.
• Manage Design Team and Consultants: Guide internal teams and external consultants through all design phases, ensuring project goals are met.
• Create and Manage Design Schedules: Develop and track detailed design schedules to ensure timely delivery of milestones and deadlines.
• Review Design Documentation: Assess detailed design drawings, specifications, finishes, and mood boards for quality assurance, constructability, and budget alignment. Oversee consultant scopes including architecture, engineering, interior design, and more.
• Optimize Design Strategy: Manage design strategy for brand prototypes and selections, applying value engineering for cost efficiencies without compromising quality.
• Lead Meetings: Direct key internal and external meetings, providing design direction and ensuring design priorities are met. Collaborate with stakeholders and consultants on innovative solutions.
• Conduct Site Visits: Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress, resolve design issues, and ensure design intent is followed.
• Review Technical Specifications: Evaluate technical specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for accuracy, design intent, and resolution of issues.
• Approve FF&E Selections: Review and approve all FF&E selections to align with operational efficiency, financial goals, and aesthetic standards.
• Oversee FF&E Procurement: Manage the procurement and installation of FF&E, including budget management, scheduling, and vendor relationships.
• Review FF&E Documentation: Evaluate FF&E shop drawings, submittals, samples, and prototypes for adherence to standards. Collaborate with vendors to ensure orders meet specifications.
• Distribute FF&E Resources: Provide comprehensive FF&E handbooks and resources to store-level teams during the handover process.
• Document Project Details: Maintain accurate documentation of plans, specifications, and correspondence using Autodesk or similar software.
• Prepare Reports and Presentations: Create reports and presentations for senior management to communicate project status, updates, and milestones.
• Conduct Feasibility Assessments: Perform test fits and due diligence for potential new locations, assessing feasibility and design requirements.
• Support Resupply Needs: Assist with design specifications and procurement for store resupply and replacement needs.
• Assist with Store-Level Projects: Provide support for store-level projects, including specification selection, drawing preparation, and procurement coordination.
Requirements
• B.S. in Interior Design, Architecture or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in luxury hospitality, restaurant or hotel environment.
• Experience leadings design teams with decision-making authority and accountability, budgets and coordinating external consultants.
• Must have experience in all phases of the project from schedules, budgets, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and FFE specification development.
• Strong understanding or industry building principles, practices, and codes.
• Strong understanding of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• NCIDQ and LEED accreditation preferred but not required.
• Flexible to travel (up to 30% time) for site visits.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
