Random House Children's Books (RHCB) seeks an energetic and book-passionate Associate Publicist to join its Publicity team. The person in this role will independently execute publicity campaigns for a variety of children's & YA titles, assist in daily operations and administrative functions for the department, and collaborate with staff on media/event campaigns.

RHCB is the world's largest English-language children's trade book publisher, consisting of various imprints that publish award-winning authors and illustrators, world-famous franchise characters, and multimillion-copy series for toddlers through young adult readers, in all formats from board books to activity books to picture books, novels, and nonfiction.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, possess strong attention to detail, and have approximately one-to-two years of publicity experience. The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities in the New York City office, which will include but not be limited to executing mailings and attending in-person author events/meetings with staff, approximately two days a week. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our office in Manhattan.

The Role:Independently coordinates publicity campaigns for assigned titles under supervision, including but not limited to: drafting galley letters, press releases, and media lists; pitching TV, radio, print, and online outlets for coverage; coordinating author tour schedules, book signings, and other events.Provides general administrative support to the department, including but not limited to: pitching book festivals & cons, compiling seasonal media meeting decks, itineraries, awards submissions, and invoice processing.Assists senior publicity staff as needed with priority publicity campaigns.Research and seek out new media outlets for promotion and coverage of our titles.Internally, the role will interact closely with Marketing, Sales, and Editorial teams, and externally the role will entail communication with authors and illustrators, booksellers, and all facets of media, including: TV, radio, print, and online outlets.The Essentials:

At least 1-2 years of experience in book publishing or PR/Publicity, with children's book publicity preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectivelyStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

The salary for this position is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
