Telecommunications Supervisor

General Summary of Position
MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center has a full-time Supervisor opportunity on our Telecommunicationsteam. This role plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Telecommunications department in accordance with applicableadministrative and regulatory requirements. Assists callers to the hospital,including patients, physicians and members of the community, providing accurateinformation and efficient service.
The Telecommunications department is open 24/7. This position is mostly day shift (9am-5pm) with rotating weekends on-call and some evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays are requiredas well.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the Information System Department in supporting the departmental needs. Provide training and technical expertise on the usage of phone equipment and voice mail system to hospital users. Audit all statements associated with the department (phones, pagers, and language equipment) and submits them to the Director approval. Research information (numbers, titles, etc.) for all in house phone directories. Update via intranet as needed. Supervise Operators, observe performance, and report any corrective measures to the I.S. (Director) Provide training to the new hire, and switchboard operators. Inform and instruct switchboard operators on all hospital policies and procedures. Coordinate schedules for staffing each shift, weekly and submits to the Director for approval. Compose monthly tests for switchboard operations competency reports. Order office supplies as necessary Maintain attendance for each employee's folders for PTO and holiday time off. Document all issues (late, etc.) and submit to Director for discussion and actions needed. Maintain availability to assist in the event that a switchboard operator does not report to work. Cover the switchboard while other switchboard operators break.
Minimum Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.
Experience
3-4 years Experience working for a telephone company, as a telephone technician and/or working technical supervisor lead preferred. 1-2 years experience working with PBX and voice mail systems, large phone switchboard, programming of phone switches and call accounting software preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to access, comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Ability to read, write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
