Job Summary
Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Technical Writer. This position is based out of our Bridgeton, MO facility but has the option to be a hybrid schedule or a remote worker. The Technical Writer is responsible for writing all technical materials, such as equipment manuals, or operating and maintenance instructions for all military and commercial programs.
Job Responsibilities
Write all technical materials, such as equipment manuals, or operating and maintenance instructionsDraft routine documents and sections of documents for reviewAssist in general layout of materials for publicationEdit technical documents to ensure that they follow specfic formatting requirements and standards of quality and styleMay draw sketches to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequenceBecome familiar with product technologies and production methodsOrganize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminologyReview published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and bindingCompile technical information to ensure content, style and format are in accordance with current standardsOrganize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminologySupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationQualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experienceFundamental knowledge in desktop publishing software, and be proficient in applications such as Microsoft WordMust have strong interpersonal skills as well as strong communication skills, both oral and writtenKnowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts, maintenance documents and drawings; strong electrical and mechanical knowledge a plus
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The expected pay scale for this position is $51,603.00/year - $73,792.00/year in the state of Washington and $53,948.00/year - $77,146.00/year in the state of California. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
