Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Beavercreek, Ohio Mechanical team to support critical technology development initiative, manufacturing, and ensure the successful completion of projects on time and within budget. This role involves designing, developing, analyzing, and testing products, systems, or subsystems, with a focus on cost-effective solutions and high-quality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

Support the department by creating moderately complex mechanical/electrical/electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations using CAD or manual systems; compile Bills of Materials; assist in the assembly of prototypes.

Draw multiple views; depict relationship of component and parts; identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials; prepare bills of material and specifications; create documentation required and processing Engineering Change Orders; ensure adherence to designated quality and cost parameters; use CAD systems.

Ensure quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by: assisting in the building/acquiring of prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making various calculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifying drawings as required; conferring with engineers to resolve issues; adhering to Company policies and procedures

Provide assistance to lesser experienced drafters by: communicating work priorities; providing technical assistance; verifying accuracy of work

Maintain CAD equipment by: following manufacturer’s instruction and procedures; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, as required

Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.

Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Maintain technical knowledge by: conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Job Responsibilities Part II

Associate degree or its equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

Experience using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Creo.

Familiar with ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5.

Familiar with MIL-STD-3100

Circuit Card Assembly and Printed Circuit Board layout experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or its equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area

Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
