They're responsible for developing innovative, integrated brand partnerships across events and advertising that support our larger mission: global, transparent, and intelligent journalism. Semafor's Creative Strategy team partners closely with Sales teams and creates advertising partnerships through media, events, content, and data products. The Creative Strategy team is the heart of the pre-sale portion of this process.Senior Creative Strategists develop original media strategies, brand narratives, and strategic platforms and ideas, codified into thoughtful proposals to share with partners across industries and markets, focusing on New York, DC, Africa, and Gulf regions. In this role, you will be expected to understand your clients' priorities and challenges, and authoritatively operationalize cross-functional processes to develop best-in-class presentations and proposal deliverables. This role will report to Semafor's Senior Creative Director, and work closely with other Creative Strategists on the team as well as the Sales team, Revenue Operations team, and broader marketing teams.Duties and Responsibilities:Be a subject matter expert on Semafor's brand and products. Understand and build on Semafor's brand story on behalf of clientsEngage with genuine curiosity and interest in deeply understanding clients' brand challenges, priorities, and objectivesUtilize research and data to articulate and support strategies and creative ideasCreate and design thoughtful, strategic, and engaging proposals, typically in visual presentation format, that clearly and concisely communicate ideas/concepts that map back to key advertiser objectives and KPIsTake a lead role, driving processes and operationalizing the organization with sales leads and post-sale teams, ensuring consistency in pre-to post-sale transitionShow a clear and convincing connection between a client's brand challenge and proposed partnership solutionsLeverage a solid understanding of the media landscape, including expertise in new and emerging media platforms as well as off-platform opportunities, to elevate the ideas we present to clientsLead brainstorms both internally with cross-functional teams, client partnership leads, agencies, and clients to clarify asks, gather critical intel, and craft winning proposalsWork directly with Semafor leadership on high-profile C-Suite pitches and presentationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in advertiser marketing and salesExcellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skillsStrong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage many different workstreams at onceExperience developing brand, creative, or marketing strategies for clientsDemonstrated ability to generate revenue through marketing strategiesApproaches revenue opportunities with curiosity, ingenuity, and originalityFeels deep ownership of their workThis is an in-person role, with 4 days a week expected in either our New York or Washington, D.C. office.
