Job Description

The NBCUniversal Global Real Estate (NBCU GRE) is looking for a Design Manager! The Global Real Estate team creates and constructs innovative workplace environments that promote business unit success through comprehensive and thoughtful planning, aspirational, creative, sustainable design, and well-planned, timely execution. Our Design team sets and applies consistent interior and exterior design standards and aesthetics while working with each Business Unit to use their unique character and qualities in each project. 

In this role, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team, responsible for documenting and realizing a wide range of specific real estate and development projects, focusing on interior design. As the interior design leader, you will curate and guide all aspects of the design process, from ideation to implementation. Strong graphic and verbal communication skills will be essential as you lead meetings and provide clear and concise direction. You will also manage and coordinate efforts with others responsible for design-related activities, including internal Business Units and Corporate partners, as well as third-party consultants, contractors, and vendors hired to support each initiative. You will uphold the creative vision and NBCUniversal standards across the global portfolio.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide support for the project team through design, including but not limited to
    • Planning Study
    • Interior Space Planning
    • Concept Rendering
    • Architectural Design
    • Furniture and Finish Selection and Curation (FF&E)
    • Review drawings, mock-ups, materials, and finish samples project contractors submit
  • Use graphic storytelling utilizing interior architectural design concepts to advance the project delivery
  • Assist Design Team in the creation, preparation of creative presentations of all project efforts
  • Formulate project approach with the Director of Design, SVP of Design, and Project Managers and establish design parameters
    • Create and develop design concepts using various graphic techniques and media
    • Participate in design strategy sessions and presentations
    • Manage daily design concepts/processes consistent with the project’s program, budget, and time constraints
  • Respond to input and changes to project parameters by developing alternative options and maintaining concept continuity
  • Apply design templates and policies to the intended use of program test fits
  • Assist the Design team in managing and maintaining our internal materials library and product literature
  • Create computer and hand-drawn presentation materials for the Design team
  • Research and collect information and data to support project development
  • Lead internal team or external graphic consultants on design and production efforts to support real estate projects

What You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field or 8+ years of experience in a related field
  • 4+ years experience with site, architectural, and interior design
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Revit, Rhino, and Enscape
  • 5+ years working in a professional office or design firm organization
  • Willingness and ability to travel about 10-20% of the time to work on project locations, both domestic and international, as needed

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 (Bonus Eligible)
