Job Description Job Description We are seeking a talented freelance Digital Web Designer to join our team, with the potential for advancement into a full-time role. Your primary responsibility will be to support the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of our museum’s website, including building and deploying new web pages, adding front-end features, integrating plugins, and performing routine maintenance to ensure the site remains up-to-date. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Drupal 10, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, or other web-based and Drupal development tools. Additionally, you will assist in other web/digital marketing initiatives such as developing email marketing campaigns, implementing SEO best practices, and setting up and managing Google Analytics to track and analyze website and email marketing performance. This position reports directly to, and works closely with, the Director of New Media. In addition, you will coordinate and liaise with IT programmers, developers, internal stakeholders, and other creative support team members to deliver a high-quality final product that meet the museum's digital needs. The essential duties include but are not limited to: • Develop, implement, and maintain websites using programming languages, CMS platforms, and digital tools. • Create, modify, or optimize web page content and collaborate with content creators. • Work closely with the Director of New Media to manage project priorities, address conflicts, define content requirements, and propose solutions. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to web services identified through testing or user feedback. • Review and validate code for compliance with best practices, industry standards, and cross-browser/device compatibility. • Keep up-to-date with the latest web technologies and development methodologies. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design/Development, or a related field. • Knowledge of web design principles, typography, and design fundamentals. • At least three years of experience in developing websites, landing pages and email marketing. • At least three years of experience using Adobe Creative Suite. • Understanding of SEO best practices is a plus. • Familiarity with Classy and Tessitura is a plus. • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously. • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and up-to-date experience with international web protocols/technologies. • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills. • Creative and analytical thinker with the ability to effectively use industry tools. • Experience preparing reports for management.
