Job Summary: The Building Elements Designer is responsible for the design and production of site-specific permit and production drawings used in the maintenance of existing accounts. The designer must be able to interpret and formulate information provided by sales staff, project managers, customer service representatives, estimators, production staff, and client representatives to produce drawings for client approval and permit acquisition.
Essential Functions:
- Communicate and interact with other departments to ensure satisfactory design solutions
- Communicate with sales staff, account managers, customer service representatives, estimators, and production staff to produce drawings for client approval and permit acquisition
- Understand the project requirements, client needs, and all related information
- Assist staff in developing criteria for each project assigned, to ensure the project develops in a way that best suits the client’s needs and maintains the proposed project timeline
- Translate project requirements into drawings for review, approval, permit acquisition, and manufacturing
- Produce site specific permit and production drawings, as required, using computer aided design software, to illustrate concepts involved, in a manner that clearly represents the finished product, and allows staff or client representatives to fully understand the product
- Present designs to staff for approval, and discuss need for modification
- Modify and refine designs to conform with changes requested during the review process
- Participate in continuous professional development in order to remain cutting edge
- Read industry related publications, study competing products, review new industry related product lines to obtain perspective and generate design concepts
- Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company
- Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
- Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
- Informs management of any safety related issues
- Protects organization value by keeping information confidential, cautioning others regarding potential breaches

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

- Standing.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with overtime as required.
Travel: This position requires up to 10% travel.
Educational Requirements:
- Highschool diploma or GED.
- Associate degree from an accredited university or college.
Preferred Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Experience with Macola EM 10 preferred.
- Experience with Crystal Reports or Microsoft SSRS preferred but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Skype, Teams, One Drive and SharePoint is strongly preferred but not required.
- Proficient with common PC based software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Understanding of business processes is essential.
- Aptitude in problem-solving.
