Cass Calder SmithArchitecture + Interiors is looking for a Senior Interior Designer who must have at least 10 years’ experience within High End Residential Interior Design and Hospitality projects including Restaurants. The successful candidate will have excellent proven experience of luxury interior design and strong FF&E skills, with a positive and can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

1. Project Management

  • Independently manage design projects under the guidance of the Design Director and Project Manager.
  • Ensure timely and budget-conscious project completion, focusing on client needs and project objectives.

2. Design Execution

  • Display passion and an innovative approach to interior architectural design that combines collaboration, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in design, design execution, and sustainable principles.
  • Think and design three-dimensionally with creative and conceptual skills.
  • Participate in all phases of a project including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, construction administration and FF&E.
  • Develop concept/mood, material and design presentations, present design concepts to the client and participate in client meetings throughout the life of the project.
  • Select and present choices for furniture, finishes, and lighting.
  • Oversee and/or generate CD level drawings, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Knowledge of construction details.
  • Develop comprehensive furniture plans, specifications, and schedules needed for furniture procurement.
  • Develop comprehensive lighting drawings and specifications needed for custom lighting fixtures
  • Understanding of furniture procurement process.
  • Provide extensive and comprehensive knowledge of FF&E vendors and resources to the team across residential and hospitality sectors.
  • Coordinate efforts with external consultants and vendors.

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Coordinate with project management, external consultants, and vendors to streamline the design process.
  • Willingness to jump in to help wherever needed in any capacity.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand and fulfill their design needs.

4. Leadership and Mentorship

  • Inspire and collaborate with design teams, providing technical expertise and support to junior designers.
  • Mentor junior staff to foster professional growth and assist in developing their design skills.
  • Provide guidance on FF&E resources and industry trends.

5. Innovation and Problem-Solving

  • Approach design challenges with creative problem-solving, pushing boundaries to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Ensure specification of equipment, materials, and supplies align with project needs.

6. Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in marketing efforts and contribute to proposal responses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of post-graduation experience in interior design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering software.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey design ideas effectively.
  • Hand sketching abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
  • Experience in residential, restaurant, and/or hospitality design.
  • Familiarity with FF&E vendors across residential and hospitality sectors.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new design trends and technologies.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment, fast paced environment.
