Controller role for a Fashion Retailer in Los AngelesClient DetailsFashion retailer based in Los Angeles. Our client is a high growth luxury fashion retailer who have an international presence, strong brand and loyal client base.DescriptionFinancial Reporting & Oversight:Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Manage general ledger and journal entries, ensuring proper recording of transactions.Produce timely and accurate internal financial reports for senior management, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Inventory & Cost Accounting:Ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.Work with retail operations teams to track product costs, margins, and sales trends.Analyze inventory levels and help optimize inventory turnover.
Cash Flow Management:Oversee daily cash management and forecasting, ensuring adequate liquidity and managing cash flow effectively.Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to maintain healthy cash flow.
Internal Controls & Compliance:Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.Coordinate the annual audit process and ensure timely submission of tax filings.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
Team Leadership & Development:Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely completion.Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support professional development.
ProfileBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role in a retail environment, preferably in fashion or consumer goods.Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.Experience with retail accounting, including inventory management, COGS, and margin analysis.Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and present it clearly to non-financial stakeholders.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Job OfferSalary up to $230,000 plus bonus and benefitsHybrid working scheduleMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individuals status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
