We are seeking a NYC-based Creative Strategist to join our Business Development team. The role of the BD Strategist is to unearth those opportunities that ultimately drive agency growth for both net new and organic clients. In more detail, they will analyze each brief or opportunity and map out the business need for the brand by building out the campaign/program framework with the right marketing approaches and defining channels. This framework will be used to brief project strategy and creative teams to develop more granular strategy and insights and correlating creative for the brief response.
Success in this role requires a winning spirit, a strategic sales lens, a methodical approach to marketing, and a level of gravitas that garners trust and excitement through written and spoken presentations. Additionally, this role will positively contribute to making Invisible North’s culture an envy of the industry; where great people with great vibes make great work, every day.
While our main office is located in DUMBO Brooklyn, we work as a distributed team with members reaching from Maine to LA, and everywhere in between. You will report to the EVP of Accounts & Growth with a dotted line into the Head of Strategy and Creative. This position is a contract-to-hire and hybrid remote/in-office.
This position is contracted on an initial three-month freelance basis with the opportunity to become full-time. The full-time salary will be commensurate with the experience of the selected freelance candidate.
Roles + ResponsibilitiesRFP Analysis and Response FrameworkConduct initial research into the industry, competitors, and historicals of the brandDefine what clients are asking for in the RFP and what will win (and why)Define what the required output should be in our response (and why)Effectively implement strategic frameworks into project workflowsWork with the response team to define our winning strategy
Business Development StrategiesLead in the preparation of initial client conversations and building out the case studies that make sense for the client based on client, brand, industry, etc? (and why)Assist in developing RFI responses for current and future client requests
Brand and Marketing StrategiesUnderstanding of 360 marketing (inclusive of all channels at some level with a definitive knowledge of experiential and integrated campaigns)Discern relevant cultural touchpoints that lean into insights about the brand/industry and the target audienceKeenly understand the various ways to measure the impact of experiential activationsIn addition to research, you love finding nuggets of human truth that can be turned into impactful strategic insightsKeen understanding of entrepreneurial dynamics and the moves brands take to grow their business, how they launch products & services, and provide market differentiation and white spaceComprehensive expertise in consumer desires, and preferences as it relates to attracting their attention and ultimate conversion
StorytellingUnderstand the importance and value of using effective storytelling to translate complex ideas into easily understood and effective stories that create a connection with their audiencesLead strategy for awards submission in marketing storytellingEffectively communicate ideas to internal teams, ensuring delivery against the objectives (a plain speaker, with the end goal always in mind)Wide understanding of storytelling frameworks from music, to movies, gaming, architecture & experiential
Relationship BuildingDevelop new client relationships while contributing to the growth of the current client base (building our business as well as the client’s)Expand the network of clients, partners, and collaborators who are engaged with Invisible North (a natural at networking)
Skills + QualificationsYou must have at least 5-7 years of strategy experience at creative agencies and/or specialist agencies (experiential/pr/digital, partnerships, etc.) or brand-side or maybe both!Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop a clear, compelling POV that sells strategy (internally and externally) with relevant work samples both in pitch and active workEntrepreneurial nature; ability to proactively adapt ways of working within an evolving agency modelStart-up experience and/or in-house brand experience is a plusBringing strategic leadership and rigor to the business development process (both new and organic); directing and/or authoring quick turn strategies to support major new business pitches for the agency
