Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Compensation
- The pay for this position is $45.00/hr
- Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.
- A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.
Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Highlights
· All State units are currently running a minimum of 1 in-office day per month. There is always the potential for additional in-office days at the request / direction of the Agency. The chosen candidate should be able to onboard remotely as well.
· Position Shift: 8a – 4pm (30 min lunch)
Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Responsibilities
· Assist in assessing statewide needs related to supporting individuals with communication needs.
· Develop strategies to improve the organization, financing, and delivery of services for individuals with communication needs.
· Create and present training materials, including online modules and e-learning resources, tailored to providers, Administrative Entities, Supports Coordination Organizations, and others.
· Collaborate with Administrative Entities and Supports Coordination Organizations to develop communication specialists and other providers for participants in home and community-based settings.
· Recruit and expand the pool of qualified providers willing to support individuals with communication needs.
· Work with stakeholders to develop and enhance available resources.
· Monitor to ensure that recommended communication supports are offered and that individuals are given the opportunity to make informed choices about their communication options.
· Address complaints related to communication needs effectively.
· Collaborate with individuals, providers, Administrative Entities, and Supports Coordination Organizations to foster environments conducive to effective communication that promotes individual choice.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Deaf and Nontraditional Communication Support Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or a related field.
· At least 2 years of professional experience working with individuals who communicate through sign language, tactile sign language, visual gestural communication, or other nontraditional communication methods.
· At least 1 year of professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
· American Sign Language fluency at Survival Level required; fluency at or above Intermediate Plus level strongly preferred.
· Any relevant combination of education and experience to meet job requirements.
