Job Title: User Experience Designer/Service Designer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a User Experience Designer/Service Designer to bring best practices in human-centered design to support initiatives across the state. This role involves improving users' end-to-end experiences with state services, advocating for user needs, and guiding design and technical teams. The Senior UX Designer/Service Designer will collaborate with stakeholders, solve complex problems, and develop metrics to optimize customer experience and program performance. They will also communicate user research findings through personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply human-centered design practices to enhance users' experiences with state services.
  • Champion user needs and guide designers, researchers, content strategists, and technical teams.
  • Engage stakeholders to build customer understanding and collaboratively solve problems.
  • Develop and track metrics to measure results and integrate methodologies for improved customer experience and program performance.
  • Communicate user research findings through personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Alternative: Equivalent experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree:
    • Junior Level: Two (2) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
    • Senior Level: Five (5) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
General Experience:

  • Junior Level: Minimum of 2 years of experience in user experience and service design.
  • Senior Level: Minimum of 5 years of experience in user experience and service design.
Specialized Experience:

  • Junior Level: Experience in developing interactive prototypes and UX artifacts.
  • Senior Level: Proven experience in planning and facilitating workshops and interactive sessions to collect insights from stakeholders and users, supporting data-driven design decisions.
Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in interactive prototyping and UX tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Strong knowledge of user research techniques and tools, with experience creating personas, journey maps, and wireframes.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills for gathering insights and advocating for user-centered solutions.
  • Ability to engage cross-functional teams to collaboratively define, measure, and optimize user experience metrics.
  • Familiarity with service design principles and a passion for improving customer experiences through empathetic design.
Pay is dependent on experience, negotiable.
