The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) would like to announce the availability of a Full-Time Adaptive Clothing Designer position working in the Northeast Region for the Hogan Regional Center. The primary purpose of the Adaptive Clothing Designer is to design, fabricate, alter and repair adaptive garments and devices. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): * Designs, fabricates, alters, covers, and repairs adaptive garments and devices by hand or machine sewing using various types of stitches. * Measures, marks, create layouts, and cut the chosen materials to ensure proper fit of the needed equipment. Develops and designs patterns to be used on a long term basis. * Determines the proper use of materials, determining construction and closures etc. * Orders materials and supplies used in the fabrication of the assistive technology pieces that involve this position including; cloth, upholstery, threads, grommets, strapping, buckles. * Visits various departments and sites as needed for fittings, consultations etc. * Participates in the regular cleaning and maintenance of the shop area and equipment, to insure safe and efficient operation. * As workload allows, will assist other staff with inventory control and office administrative duties. _Please Note:_ This position is located in the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers.
