This role will work closely with our digital marketing and web design teams to maintain and enhance our web presence across multiple subdomains, including online.lsu.edu, ce.lsu.edu, and promo.online.lsu.edu. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in web development and a passion for mentoring others. As a Web Design Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the consistent performance, functionality, and visual integrity of LSU Online's digital platforms while playing a key role in guiding the design and optimization of our landing pages. Job Responsibilities: Web Design and Strategy: Develop and implement the web design strategy for all of LSU OCE's subdomains (online.lsu.edu, ce.lsu.edu, promo.online.lsu.edu) that aligns with the brand's goals and vision, ensuring consistency and innovation across all web platforms (4 million visits per year). Ensure high-quality performance (500 pages) by optimizing conversion rate performance through proactive troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Support efforts to meet enrollment goals. 35% Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with various teams, such as IT, Recruitment & Retention, Continuing Education, Marketing, and more, to implement new features, improve user experience, and optimize existing web pages for usability and performance. Ensure strong representation of the LSU brand, LSU OCE, and the six family of institutions. Enforce brand guidelines for a unified and professional brand image. 20% Front-End and Back-End Development: Implement front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end integrations (APIs, databases, CMS management) to enhance user experience and site functionality across all subdomains. 20% Mentorship and Skill Development: Provide mentorship and guidance to a junior landing page designer, developing their technical and creative abilities in web design, UX/UI best practices, and effective implementation of digital strategies. Facilitate a learning environment that encourages growth and innovation. 10% T echnical Audits and Optimization: Conduct regular website performance audits, ensuring content consistency, search engine optimization (SEO), and compliance with web accessibility standards. Identify and address areas for improvement to enhance site functionality and user experience. 10% Other Duties as Assigned. 5% Additional Requirements: Operation Essential Personnel - This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01. Due to the nature of the position and/or responsibilities, in times of emergencies and/or University closures, this position is considered operational essential. It may be required to assist the Office of Communications and University Relations on necessary communications matters in times of crisis, including potentially working in LSUs Emergency Operations Center during those times. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 5 years of web development experience. Specific Experience : A strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular). Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing and developing multiple subdomains within a larger digital ecosystem. Strong mentorship skills with a proven ability to guide and support junior team members. Solid understanding of SEO best practices, web performance optimization, and web analytics tools. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms. Why LSU Online?
