This role serves as a leader for the Student Affairs Communication and Marketing team and is responsible for supervising the communication strategy and project management oversight across multiple department and division-level campaigns. Communication campaign responsibilities include content creation and design for print, email, web, digital and social platforms, and will cover large-scale division initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant Director supports several departments in the Division of Student Affairs by collaborating on creative strategies to meet department and division communication needs. The Assistant Director manages professional staff and student employees, and will provide oversight, direction, and development to lead their employees to meet the mission and vision of the Division of Student Affairs. Professional staff use their expertise and diverse skill-set to create materials that engage, educate and promote Student Affairs departments. SA Comm collaborates with departments to develop and implement communication plans and tactics. The team strives to balance the goals of departments with the needs of our audiences, and share communication that's timely and relevant. SA Comm also works closely with campus partners to ensure integrated campus-wide marketing and communications.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeStrategic CommunicationWorks closely with the Director and Associate Directors to develop and implement a communication plan and strategy for core areas to support the Division of Student Affairs.Responsible for the development and execution of communication campaigns to meet division and department goals, including articles, email, print, web, digital engagement, photography and videography.Develops and implements communication strategies and processes for the execution of multi-platform marketing and communication plans that inform varying audiences including students, staff, faculty, families and external constituents.Ensures that all media platforms are fully used and coordinated with larger Division campaigns by working collaboratively with other members of Student Affairs Communication team.Manages communication plan to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.Collaborates with division leadership to develop and implement emergency response communications for the Division of Student Affairs, including direct messages and taking points.Provides on-call support for division emergency and crisis communication needs.Reports and raises issues to the Associate Directors and Director as needed.SupervisionManages a team of professional and student staff and is directly involved with recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of employees.Fosters a spirit of teamwork and creative collaboration among department members that allows for a productive work environment.Provides leadership and creative direction to the employees in the operating unit in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.Manages workload, as well as creative and design process, to ensure that the team is meeting goals, creating accurate and brand appropriate communication, and meeting department expectations and needs.Determines daily and long term work assignments for staff based on changing needs of the division and departments.Communication LiaisonBuilds and maintains effective relationships with Student Affairs departments, campus partners and vendors to assess needs, provides solutions and develops and implements materials consistent with critical initiatives and branding.Stays abreast of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including changes in regulations, technology and standard methodologies.Manages communication plans and content calendars to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.Data AssessmentReviews and assess data to improve communications and increase engagement.Works with the Director, Associate Directors, and the Data and Assessment liaison to establish objectives, goals and identify and track important metrics.What You Should KnowThis is a hybrid position working both on the CU Boulder campus as well as remotely.This role will require on-call shifts and availability on nights and weekends.What We Can OfferThe salary for this position is $84,500 annually.
