ResponsibilitiesOwn and execute on projects from beginning to end, handling most of the project management and working with team members to complete on time and on budgetCreate preliminary client budgets and schedules, and updating as neededReview and send client proposals for approvalOversee the construction process - meeting with contractors, clients, and vendors on a regular basis to ensure that the design is executed to planCollaborate with contractors, clients, and vendors on creative solutions when issues or problems are identifiedPrepare, manage, and maintain project files, correspondence, drawings, etc.Respond to all client, vendor, and contractor emails, calls, or texts within 24 hrsManage and help with installations and stylingCreate vision boardsCreate furniture plans and design conceptsResearch and source furnishings, fixtures, and finishes, working with vendorsCreate client storyboardsCreate architectural 3D models (bonus), renderings (bonus), and 2D drawingsCreate detailed permit and construction drawing sets, including plans, elevations, sectionsDesign and create construction drawings for interior architectural details, custom millwork, and furnitureResearch specifications required for drawingsIdentify areas where process improvements are needed on a continuous basisWork with team members to improve processes and updating documentation as neededMentor less skilled and experienced designers and help them improve their skills
Minimum RequirementsMinimum 12 years of work experience in an interior design firm (not a showroom or furniture store)Residential FF&E and construction experience requiredAuthorized to work in the United States - we do NOT sponsorProven ability to be self-reliantHigh level of professional maturityBS/BA degree in Architecture or Interior Design
Technical Skills DesiredExpertise in AutoCAD and proficiency in SketchupComfort and familiarity in Google Docs, Sheets, and SlidesComfort and familiarity with communication and project management software such as AsanaComfort with hand sketching to communicate an ideaExpertise and real world knowledge of design process, principles, construction methods, and creating detailed construction drawings with proper notation for permit.Expertise in sourcing from trade-only and artisan/maker resources and designing custom furniture. You stay on top of all the latest modern/contemporary designers, vendors, products.Modernist design sensibility that resonates with Form + Field’s portfolio of work.
Performance Skills DesiredGreat communication skills (clear, proactive, direct, and frequent for both written and verbal) to interface with vendors, contractors, clients, teammates.Highly organized with ability to breakdown a large project into smaller tasks and sequence the tasks appropriately.Expertise in project management, taking projects from start to finish, working on all steps along the way, and requiring little supervision.Excellent attention to detail - you double check your work and learn from mistakes.Time management skills - knowing how much effort and time to put into the different priorities at hand. You don’t waste time on or present things that won’t work budget-wise or functionally.Highly motivated, proactive self-starter who has a strong sense of urgency and follow-through. Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year depending on experience and skill
