Position title: Intermediate Lighting designer Employment type: Full Time Structure: In Person Department: Lighting Reports to: Design Director of Lighting ROLE SUMMARY: The Lighting Designer has the opportunity to be a part of LIGHTING STUDIO's origin story, collectively working towards cultivating the studio's unique point of view while collaborating with leading designers in their field. LIGHTNING STUDIO seeks an individual who possesses a passion for newness, a spirit of entrepreneurship, and who is inspired to question the routine. This individual has the ability to execute most phases in the production of a lighting project (concept design, schematic design, design development, construction administration) with supervision from the Lighting Manager. Collaboration-minded, the suitable candidate understands how to work fluidly and adapt to challenges - and opportunities- presented by a growing business. With a basic understanding of current Yabu Pushelberg goals, the ideal candidate is able to understand the client and operator's requests, needs and desires, and has the ability to follow through on them within the context of producing a YP lighting design. Mentoring, workshopping, and moving ideas forward as a team will be a part of your daily routine. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and collaborate in all phases of project from concept design through planning.Select directional mood imagery to craft a design narrative and further develop concept design with renderings and sketch lighting plans.Formulate preliminary fixture direction.Refine project design strategy.Coordinate with interior design teams to develop approved design into buildable drawings.Develop specification packages for lighting fixtures and control.Acquire and coordinate samples from vendors.Prepare mock-ups to illustrate/test lighting effects.Develop a complete drawing package, including lighting layouts, zoning, and detailing.Coordinate with Project Management team in the development of budgets, and any necessary preparations for tender issuances.Answer contractor/vendor queries and provide site clarifications.Review Shop Drawings and Submittals.Perform site inspections and supervise final focusing of light fixtures and programming of control system.Review with Project Manager, Project Leaders, Team Leader, Directors and/or Principals throughout.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS Degree or Diploma in Lighting Design OR related field of Design with an emphasis on lighting.3+ years of work experience in lighting design.Adequate knowledge of the lighting design professionProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign), and BluebeamProficiency in AGi32 or other lighting photometric calculation softwareAbility to switch and prioritize between several projects or tasks at once, demonstrating effective deadline managementAbility to work well both independently and within a team environmentExcellent communication and organizational skillsMust posses a strong balance of conceptual thinking and technical knowledge Yabu Pushelberg is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
