Position Overview
The part-time grant writer at Refuge for Women is responsible for cultivating grant prospects, maintaining an effective grant application calendar, and developing and submitting high-quality grant proposals. Ultimately, these activities will result in securing grant funding that will contribute to the overall funding plan toward a sustainable cash flow for your location. Possible grant funding sources may include: family foundations, community foundations, corporate foundations, local government entities, and grants from local churches.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Research and identify foundations that are a good fit for Refuge for Women using our Instrumentl grant database and/or foundation 990s, websites, LinkedIn, etc.
- Maintain an up-to-date yearly calendar of grants to apply for in Instrumentl, including both repeat and new grantors.
- Craft and write grant proposals using clear, persuasive language, accuracy of financial and program details, and confidentiality of residential home location and resident identifying information. Residents should be written about in a way that honors their story.
- Organize grant proposals on Google Drive to retain a paper trail of all applications submitted.
- Update each foundation in Instrumentl when statuses on the application process update and change, such as when a grant is being researched, applied for, awarded, or denied. Add reporting requirements (if any) to the Instrumentl calendar when a grant is awarded.
- Conduct weekly phone calls with the Executive Director to review items needed for grant proposals.
- Send a monthly report from Instrumentl to the Executive Director regarding grant statuses.
Skills and Expectations
- Grant writing experience highly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications
