Title: Realtime FX Artist Overview: We are seeking a talented and innovative Realtime FX artist to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for visual storytelling and a strong skill set in creating stunning visual effects for gaming projects. As an FX Artist, you will collaborate with producers, and other artists to bring imagination to life through cutting-edge visual effects. Description: Produce photorealistic real-time visual effects, including explosions, fire, weapon fx, smoke, clouds, and debris using Unreal Engine Niagara and tools such as Houdini. Collaborate with Environment, Lighting, Animation, and Design to support both artistic and gameplay requirements for FX across gameplay and cinematics. Help research new workflows and proactively contribute to documentation. Ensure FX content is performant and within budget. Work with Leads and Production to estimate and plan FX tasks for upcoming milestones, break down deliverables, and share updates. Work closely with the VFX Lead, Art Director, and others in bringing life to gameplay and cinematics through the addition of flair and visual drama. Craft compelling moments through the design, creation, and implementation of real-time particle effects using both static and animated 2D/3D elements. Prototype FX and materials that effectively develop the tone and pacing of gameplay events. Spearhead VFX R&D efforts, create Houdini tools, champion best practices, and advocate for streamlining tools and processes. Research subject matter relating to objectives to ensure an authentic, accurate experience. Be a proactive self-starter who can independently execute high-level direction. Be a trusted gatekeeper for performance, efficiency, and quality. Inspire and mentor others as a role model of initiative, accountability, and attitude. Encourage others to thrive on open and welcome constructive criticism. Contribute creative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development. Requirements: Experience creating realistic and compelling FX for Games Understanding of in-game FX performance, tuning, and memory budgets. Knowledge of standard VFX software – Houdini, 3ds Max, Maya, etc. Understanding of modeling, shading, and animation workflows. Strong understanding of PBR concepts, and strong knowledge of physics. Portfolio of real-time FX work, preferably in a photorealistic style. 3 to 5 years of experience in VFX for games, visual effects, film, etc. (Bonus) Experience with Unreal Engine. (Bonus) Experience in EmberGen. (Bonus) Experience creating stylized FX. (Bonus) Experience with Python scripting.
