The Audio Visual Technician III is a mid-level field role where you will manage the installation, setup, and maintenance of audio-visual systems for small to medium-sized projects. You will lead a team of 1-3 technicians, ensuring efficient and high-quality work while adhering to safety and industry standards. Key Responsibilities of the Audio Visual Technician III:

  • Field Installation & Leadership:
    • Lead field installations of small to medium-sized projects while supervising a team of 1-3 technicians.
    • Ensure that all installations meet the highest standards of quality and are completed on time.
    • Conduct onsite training for technicians, reinforcing best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Material & Safety Management:
    • Manage and account for project materials from distribution to installation and return to warehouse.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and documentation to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Lead and participate in construction and owner meetings to ensure project alignment.
  • Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting:
    • Test and calibrate audio and video signals to industry standards (AVIXA).
    • Set up, troubleshoot, and configure AV equipment, including projectors, video conferencing systems, and DSP processors (Biamp, Extron, Clearone, etc.).
    • Install and configure AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.) and manage network integration.
    • Troubleshoot complex AV issues and provide solutions on-site.
  • Project Management & Documentation:
    • Report on project status and timelines to the project manager.
    • Produce redline and as-built drawings for project documentation.
    • Ensure proper labeling, termination, and organization of AV racks and equipment.
  • Equipment & Safety Compliance:
    • Acquire and maintain essential hand tools (multi-meter, cable toner, soldering kit, etc.).
    • Ensure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is maintained and worn as required.

Qualifications of the Audio Visual Technician III:

  • Education & Certifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Boom/Scissor Lift Certification (Level I TCP).
    • CTS Certification preferred (Certified Technology Specialist).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Audio Visual Technician.
    • Proven experience with AV equipment setup, installation, and troubleshooting.
    • Experience leading and managing small teams in field installations.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
    • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and client needs.
    • Solid knowledge of AV systems, including video/audio signals, control systems, networking, and DSP processors.
    • Ability to train and mentor other technicians.
    • Proficient in using AV troubleshooting techniques and testing standards (AVIXA).
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
