We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Design Manager to join our Northwest Infrastructure Design Group where, as a member of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on a breadth of water and wastewater projects that cannot be matched. The Design Manager (DM) is an inwardly facing leader/manager responsible for the technical production and delivery of the construction documents for water/waste water infrastructure. The DM is a partner to the Project Manager (PM) whose specific responsibilities include project delivery stewardship and client satisfaction.
We'll Expect You To:
•Plan the design project (scope, resources and staffing, level of effort and fee, schedule)
•Build and lead the design team in the production of construction document sets (drawings, specifications, and details)
•Facilitate effective communication between team members
•Develop and implement health and safety plans, quality plans, and delivery best practices
•Focus on PM and client satisfaction
•Manage assigned staff and resources
•Develop project status reports and change management planning
•Manage senior consultants for conformance to quality plan
•Meet direct cost budget goals
The DM's primary responsibility is to ensure that all aspects of an assigned design project are completed successfully. They will also manage contract compliance with respect to the design effort, be available as a key point of contact with the client, and ensure that the PM and design team clearly understand the client’s requests; and that the client and PM clearly understand the ramifications of those requests on the engineering and construction budgets and schedules. The purpose of the DM position is to ensure that the design portion of the assigned project is completed successfully, designed to cost, and on schedule. The DM achieves success by supporting, listening to, and managing the design team (including design staff, sub consultants/ subcontractors, and staff.
The DM is a participant in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling, and performance. Additionally, the DM is responsible for the identification of schedule and cost variances, and the development and implementation of recommendations for corrective action for negative variances. The DM is also responsible for monitoring and control of the design scope and proactive change management.
• BS or MS Degree in engineering or architecture
• 12+ years engineering design experience, with at least 3 years managing multidiscipline design teams.
• Proficient in the MS Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Strong Self-Motivation, leadership, and organizational skills
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
• Experience managing projects in the water/wastewater market
• Experience with Design-Build and/or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects
• International project experience
• Resident Engineer or field start-up services experience
• PE license
• Familiarity with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.)
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu (markups, Studio Sessions, document setup, etc.)
