We’re seeking an experienced, self-motivated Product Designer with a passion for creating robust, scalable, and intuitive design systems. You will be instrumental in shaping Airtable’s design language and component libraries, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience across our platform.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve Airtable’s design system and visual language, to ensure consistent user experiences across all products and platforms.
  • Be an instrumental player in aligning product design and engineering teams on consolidation of core patterns and branded experiences throughout the product.
  • Collaborate with brand designers, product designers, engineers, and product managers to understand their needs, translating these into system requirements and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of design system components, including their usage, behavior, and accessibility standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of our products to ensure adherence to the design system and to identify opportunities for its expansion and refinement.
  • Advocate for design system best practices, educating and supporting other teams in their use of the design system.
  • Lead and facilitate design system office hours and workshops to address queries, gather feedback, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Regularly communicate updates and changes to the design system across the organization.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on design systems.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a design system in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, with a strong knowledge of accessibility and internationalization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain the benefits and limitations of design systems to a variety of stakeholders.
  • High level of craft and attention to detail in foundational design: typography, layout, color, responsive interfaces, and motion.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch), and experience collaborating with teams working in front-end development (HTML, CSS).
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and design critiques, and in providing guidance to other team members.

Compensation

Compensation awarded to successful candidates will vary based on their work location, relevant skills, and experience. Our total compensation package also includes the opportunity to receive benefits, restricted stock units, and may include incentive compensation.

Salary Range

For work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles, the base salary range for this role is: $200,000 - $260,000 USD.
