A Designer is accountable for producing high quality project design deliverables in both material and construction documents. They are able to work on any and all phases of a project including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration by assisting in and independently facilitating a project's completion on-time, on or under budget, and with high standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical & Construction Documents:
Knows CAD standards and applies them
Mock-up elevations from drawings, with accuracy
Thorough and accurate reading of red-lines
Notes revisions on drawings and specifications
Can produce door & window schedules
Able to produce floor plans and layouts skillfully
Can read a set of plans and understand details expertly
Has the ability to site-measure with little to no assistance
Able to sketch something quickly in order to show ideas and concepts
Able to input sketches into Vectorworks, draft elevations, manipulate floor plans, dimension, annotate, create schedules, tag finishes, create electrical plans, finish plans, paint plans, and update title blocks
Able to update and complete final selections and bids in Builder Trend
Material Specification Requirements: Source materials and specifications based on client feedback
Can interpret what is needed by carefully listening and understanding client expectations
Save images and spec sheets to Google Docs and BuilderTrend
Contact vendors, order samples, get lead times, collect & document pricing
Organize all aspects of the specification process - answering questions, sending emails, selecting materials, etc.
Research and sourcing - cataloging vendors and resources
Complete project close-out details, documentation, storage of records
Prep for Contract signing
Know how to produce material palettes according to Woodcliff standards
Knows how to source products and understands their uses and pricing tiers
Selects appropriate products that capture the look and feel, as well as the durability and pricing that meet the client's vision and budget
Shows good eye for color and materials
Looks for fresh ideas rather than suggesting pieces that just "work"
Demonstrate comfort at exploring new ideas in design
Demonstrate a good eye for scale and balance, color and material relationships in both architecture and FF&E
