Job Description
Position Summary
The Project Designer plays a key role in the design stage of our 3D sales process. This position requires an attention to detail with an emphasis of delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers. The Project Designer is responsible for translating project requirements into working designs leveraging the 3D sales model (Discovery, Design & Deliver) to meet customer specifications and deliver accurate quotes that reflect the specified products within the appropriate budget.
This position is on-site at corporate offices located in Eagan, Minnesota, with flexibility for some remote work.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales Discovery
- Collaborate with RSM to participate in Discovery calls when applicable
- Actively manage inbound project assignments by routinely checking CRM
- Actively engage RSM and/or customer during the initial Discovery stage to ensure all required information is gathered in preparation for initial/preliminary designs to take place
- Review any related project requirements, product specification details as needed in preparation for the design call with the client
- Leverage WELS to develop initial design concepts making sure to incorporate key details in relation to specification requirements
- Capture important design details/notes in CRM prior to moving project into the Design Stage
Sales Design
- Participate in a scheduled 3D Design call which includes RSM, PD and client to present design recommendations
- Revise design recommendations based on customer feedback
- Utilize CRM software to manage and maintain opportunities and the progress of each project
- Present customer with recommendations in relation to other Winsted supporting product lines
Sales Delivery
- Present final design and quote package with team to customer
- Ensure warm handoff to Project Manager of Fulfillment after P.O. is received.
- Work with Sales team member and Project Manager of Fulfillment to support outstanding items post-P.O., if needed
Professional Development
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and product lines, staying informed of new products and utilizing opportunities to further educate self, team members and customers
- Provide design and accessory recommendations for new and existing product based on customer feedback
- Actively collaborate with all internal departments and communicate openly and effectively
- Participate in the development, communication and execution of project design strategies and objectives
- All other duties as assigned by management
Key Deliverables
- Maintain a 1 business day response time on newly assigned projects
- Deliver all projects within the standard 4 business day SLA
- Exceed minimum quality and accuracy ratings throughout the quoting process
- Actively manage open active book of business within CRM based on 30 day CRM compliance requirement
- Help build a positive, open culture that encourages and rewards cooperation and collaboration
Essential Education, Skills & Experience
- Design degree or equivalent experience with CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Able to solve problems creatively and effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a high degree of energy
- A positive, engaging personality and passion for helping customers
Preferred Experience
- Experience and/or aptitude with CRM systems
- Control room or mission critical industry experience
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret technical specifications
